The 'playing' menu has links to a number of pages to help you get orientated. You can login and create a character with any javascript/flash-capable web browser simply by clicking on the 'play now' link to the left (an option which uses websockets instead of flash is also available). There is no cost to play Discworld MUD, it is developed and maintained entirely by volunteers.

To stop this, Rincewind must transform himself into a legendary hero. No good deed goes unpunished, as they say. After finishing the tasks to free the Dragon, he finds out that she’s going to kill the members of the Brotherhood, and then she’s coming for him. Rincewind decides to help her out and goes into a lot of trouble. She tells him she is being held captive and forced to do the bidding of the ‘Brotherhood’. He heads to the dragon’s lair to plunder it but is surprisingly asked for help by the dragon. Once Rincewind finds out that the dragon’s lair is full of untold riches, his plans change slightly. You play as a wizard named Rincewind, who is summoned by the archchancellor of the University to deal with a little dragon problem (a departure from the novel). The main character is voiced by comedian Eric Idle, from Monty Python. It is most closely based on the ‘Guards! Guard!’ book, number 8 of the series. The game is set in Terry Pratchett’s created Discworld and takes from many of the series’ novels. Discworld is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Teeny Weeny Games and Perfect 10 Productions, and was published by Psygnosis in 1995.
